Top 8 Technology Breakthroughs this week: Play:1, Miix2, Sony a7 and a7R

By Vanessa Francisco | October 24, 2013 6:22 AM EST Sci-Fi technology used to be much like a fantasy than real but with the recent and fast advancement in technology, the present and fictional future are growing closer than ever. Learn about the Play:1, Miix2, Sony a7 and a7R and other interesting inventions below With U.S. Army building an Iron Man suit for field soldier protection and the bullet-proof Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS) armed with hydraulic limbs for movement and speed, the latest inventions really seem to come to life from a sci-fi film. TALOS is the Iron Man suit for the U.S. Army can't fly but it measures important vital signs and heightens the soldier's sense of signs. Star Trek, on the other hand, used to have the only technical illusion system but now reality also has it with casTAR's holographic gaming system that uses micro-projector and 3D glasses to play games with a wand controller on a flat surface. Find out the other top tech breakthroughs this week: 1. Sonos' Play:1 is a pint-sized, unassumingly affordable speaker that can fill a room with stream music and sound from Spotify, Pandora, Rdio or any Wi-Fi enabled device. 2. As Apple unveils the iPad Mini Air, Lenovo debuts The Miix2, its first 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet with 64GB storage, front and rear cameras and an Intel Bay Trail-T Quad Core processor. 3. Sarvi Dock specially engineered a dock that charges smartphones of any brand securely without the need to remove its protective case. 4. Battroborg is a cool and fun mini remote-controlled robot battle game with tiny lights as health indicators and an auto-pilot mode that can put the robots in action without you even playing it. 5. Sony unveils the World's first new magnesium allow with full-frame mirrorless cameras, the a7 and a7R, which include auto-focus, BIONZ X processors, Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity and a built that endures harsh conditions. 6. Bikers can now ride the city easier with a new smart wheel that can be controlled by a smartphone application and even locate it anytime, anywhere. If that's not impressive and exciting enough, a group of engineers, chefs and designers even developed an edible garnish that skids around on top of a cocktail drink erratically because of the alcohol. So don't be surprised if your boat garnish suddenly moves at a party - there's no insect, it's just a little fluid engineering marvel along with all the awe-inspiring technological breakthroughs that will excite us more in the future.
